Back to Black

LBD. When I picture a little black dress, my mind naturally wanders off to the iconic scene of Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s with her diamonds and long black gloves. LBD’s have certainly come a long way since the days of formality and thankfully are more functional. I have featured two outfits: one for day and one for night.

When I’m looking for clothes, I find myself more and more drawn towards black items. There are so many ways to style it, and it’s perfect for when you’re feeling a void in color (hah- just kidding!)

Dropshoulder Dress

Both of these outfits are from Loft, although, the dress is ‘technically’ Lou & Grey . Lou & Grey has certainly become a new favorite- every item I own from this brand is so soft and comfortable. Their SignatureSoft collection is wonderful- it borders on pajamas but has the look of sophistication.

For the ‘day out’ look: I paired the Lou & Grey SignatureSoft  DropShoulder Dress (size XS). Lou and Grey items DO NOT come in separate petite sizes, but I’ve had no trouble with their XS sizes.  For shoes- I added a pop of color with Tory Burch Miller Wedge in ‘Samba’ .

Out of the shade

Sun glasses are RayBan with a tortoise-shell upper rim and gold bottom rim.  Added on a long necklace from Kendra Scott- they don’t have the one that I’m wearing but here’s a  similar one (different metal).

The material resembles a sweatshirt because of the stitching, but it was around 85 degrees here in Nashville, and the dress was breathable!

Pair all of this with an over the shoulder bag, and BAM! You’re ready for your sunny adventures!

Date Night

For date night with the hubby, I went with a  Black Romper  (size PS- on sale!) which could be styled for multiple occasions- but since it was so warm, it was perfect for a summer night!

Longing for ice cream (romper)

Shoes have been featured before (see Pink and Frilly). I went with a chunky necklace and bracelet for that pop of color that should be paired with every summer outfit! The jewelry is old.  I like pairing colors and had a lipstick in pretty much the same shade. The clutch is from Elaine Turner and is about three years old. I don’t think this pattern is sold anymore, but they do have some other colors in similar styles. It is definitely one my favorite summer night handbags.Going back to that pop of color- I paired my necklace with a lipstick that matched quite nicely. I’m usually pretty conservative with my lip color but date night deserves some extra flair! Date night was great, we went to one of our favorite restaurants in town and enjoyed the cool weather that night! Happy summer nights to you all!
