Pink and Frilly

I’m all about versatility. (usually…) However, with dresses, it’s a bit more difficult to create multiple outfits- especially if they have as many frills and poofy sleeves as this one does. The bigger the better, at least that’s what they say nowadays for sleeves (thank God, it doesn’t refer to hair anymore!), definitely channeling your inner Victorian-era woman.  I had purchased this fun piece from Zara a while ago out on a whim and thought my first trip to NYC would be a perfect time to debut it.

Frilled Sleeve Dress
It’s very petite friendly, short enough above the knees and the material is perfect for warmer weathers. As a darker skinned individual, I often have to worry if I will require a slip or not- in this case, the material was just fine, which was perfect since it was blisteringly hot while we were in NYC…

Another plus, it has pockets!! And, these pockets are not just for your hands, you can put your phone in them, and it won’t drag the dress down. (You know what I’m talking about!) Although, when you do put your hands in your pockets, they will disappear since the sleeves are pretty long! Anyways, you could pair this dress in multiple ways:  platform sandals (for a day look), black kitten heels (evening), or even with white tennis shoes (casual but comfortable look).

Central Park
I went with a cork wedge sandal and paired it with a nice long chain necklace, earrings, and watch (all from Kate Spade). The jewelry are ones that I’ve had for a while, but I’ve listed similar ones (see here and here). It was the perfect dress for a stroll in the park and seeing The MET. The pop of color was perfect for the season, and I kept the accessories to a minimum.

Happy summer!
